In August my family and I went to Spain. We stayed in our apartment on the South Coast, only a 10 minute walk from the beach and opposite a cosy golf club. We spent most days lounging around in 30+ degree heat, swimming in the pool and snacking every few hours. Each evening we went out to the nearest town, either to eat or just wander round. The nearby town has little stalls each night which sell all kinds of bits and bobs, such as handmade jewellery, bags, food, souvenirs and hair braids (which they do for you, I’ve had one every time we’ve been!)
One day we went water skiing/boarding, which was so much fun, and one of the highlights of the trip. It was at a lake about a 45 minute drive away from our apartment. When we went on the water, we started on knee boards and then upgraded to ski’s. We had to sit on our kneeboards and wait to be yanked off the platform onto the river – that part hurt your arms, but was completely worth it! If you managed to stay up (which didn’t happen every time, unfortunately), cruising along the water was the most awesome feeling. Except there was a technique to going around corners, which was not as easy as some people made it look. You had to be prepared to have your arms pulled hard and stay on the board at the same time. Some corners were trickier than others but I managed to go around at least once before falling off! After we’d finished water boarding we lounged around on the beds overlooking the water, had dinner and watched the sun set. We actually went to the lake twice during our holiday because it was so much fun, even if it did make our bodies ache the next day!
One evening, after we had eaten, we went out to a nearby town and strolled along the beach. We watched the sunset and managed to get some awesome photos! It was the most relaxed evening of the trip. We finished the evening with cake and coffee (or hot chocolate) and watched people passing by, enjoying the evening.
Overall it was a good trip. It was nice to spend time with my family because we’re very busy so don’t spend much time all together, and I’m definitely missing the warm weather and the sun!
