Cupcakes

Hey πŸ™‚ I thought I would do another baking post because my last one was pretty popular and everyone seemed to enjoy it! I had a day off today from revision and I decided it would be the perfect time to do some baking. This time I did something a bit simpler and went with cupcakes. I used a typical cupcake recipe (below) and then had fun with the icing. It made 24 large cupcakes but I ran out of space in the trays so I decided to do some mini ones too – these are so cute by the way and would make perfect petitfours for parties. For making the cakes I more-or-less put everything together in a bowl and mixed it. Also, don’t forget to heat the oven to 180 degrees C and leave them in for 20 minutes.

Ingredients:

300g Self-raising Flour

300g Caster Suger

300g Unsalted butter (I used Stork which is great for making cakes)

6 medium eggs (whisked)

1/2 tbsp Vanilla Extract

For the icing I used Betty Crocker chocolate icing, which is my absolute favourite icing to use because it’s effortless. I used piping bags with a nozzle to put the icing on the cupcakes. I then decorated them with mini marshmallows, edible glitter and skulls (this seems weird but I only had Halloween decorations!) However, putting icing on like this uses it up very quickly and therefore I was unable to do many in this way.

Have a good evening! πŸ™‚

  1. Came from the community pool page and I love your idea of doing a music, fashion, and travel blog! Maybe baking will be another thing you can write about πŸ˜€ (AND I must say- your blog design is impeccable.) I got to your blog and instantly fell in love with it before even reading anything. Your photography is the cherry on top!

    1. Thank you so much! I love music and fashion and travel is something I dream of doing when I’m a bit older. Not much music has been going on though – I’m very nervous to put my songs out there. Thanks for your feedbackπŸ™‚β˜ΊοΈ

      1. Girl, no problem πŸ™‚ And SAME HERE! Traveling has always been something I’ve wanted to do, especially since I’ve lived in a small town my whole life. Especially to France or London. And fashion is just plain fun! Aw, yeah! I bet they’re great, though πŸ™‚

        1. Awesome, I live in England so I’ve been to London. It’s great and there’s so much to see/do but personally I’m not a lover of massive cities – if you do visit England (that is if you don’t live here already) I strongly suggest visiting the countryside as well because it’s so peaceful!

          1. Yess! I bet. It’s just so interesting. Especially since it’s such a historically significant place ( Charles Dickens’ classics set around London and everything) My dad was a British lit teacher so I’ve learned about it since I was little. Hahaha but yeah! Plus London is a great place for fashion, too, so that’s definitely a strong point ;D
Yes! I’ve heard a lot of England’s countrysides. It just seem like such a lovely and calm area to be. I live in the US suburbs. We used to live in the country side. That’s cool you live in England! Do you get to go to London often?

            1. Ah yeah, that’s cool! Haha true πŸ˜€ Okay, which state? I’ve never been to the US but I’d love to go. I go every few weeks so yeah fairly often I suppose. I find that the best part (weird as it sounds) is actually watching tourists take pictures and get so excited about it all – I’d love to see it through their eyes.

              1. Pennsylvania! Yeah, it’s cool! We have a bunch of mountains and countryside around here, but in town we have Chick Fil A, Chipotle, Kohls, and the works. It’s really nice, not too much and not too little! If you ever decide to visit PA, make sure you get some of our specialties, like Birch Beer (soda), whoopie pies (we have a lot of Amish around here). and our deer jerky, you might not like the sound of that, but it’s actually reallyy good. South Carolina is nice, too. We have some friends down there so we visit now and again. if you ever go THERE, make sure you try some of their peach cider! It’s a specialty of theirs.
And aw! That’s so cool! I bet so many of them are just so happy to be there! πŸ™‚ What are your fav places to go there, if I go any time soon? Are there any nice boutiques, cafes, or shops that aren’t too pricey?

                1. That sounds awesome! Umm have you heard of Yo Sushi? I’m not sure if you have it in the US. It’s a sushi restaurant and it’s so good! They serve the food on a conveyor belt so you don’t have to wait and it can be pretty cheap too. Another place to go is the London Dungeons, I went there a few years ago and it was pretty cool. And of course the London Eye and Westfield shopping centre are great too. Also if you’re into music or theatre going to see a show at the Westend or a concert at the O2 is pretty cool!

                  1. No, I’ve never heard of that! I’ll have to look that up. Hmm..that sounds really cool πŸ™‚ Yeah, I have a teacher that just recently came back from London and she went to see the London Eye and such. She said it all was just beautiful! And miraculously she was there when they had beautiful clear weather hahaha but yaaay! I will have to make a note of all that. Sounds fun!
